Change.
My dream for humans is a world where deep suffering is healed with deep love. But, guess what? That means we have a responsibility, a responsibility to deeply love.
Do you LOVE deeply?
Do you love yourself, like you love your children, partner, mother, father, brother, sister, best friend?
Can you give yourself permission to feel compassion for yourself like you give compassion to your children, partner, mother, father, sister, brother, best friend?
Do you FEEL deeply?
Everyday, we Love who we need to, who we should, and who we ought to. We feel deeply for those that needs us to feel their pain, nurse their pain, remedy their pain.
You see, when it comes to us, to me taking care of me, to you taking care of you, we totally suck…. We forget. We don’t treat ourselves like a friend, we wage the war of self-criticism, we grind out the battle of self-loathing, and give our inner critic front and center stage.
Why? Because, we forget who we are, and after awhile, we forget that we can be our own best friend. How do we get her back? First, we have to find her. She’s probably lost in the grind; stuck in the 9-5; surrendering to obligatory loves; drowning in frustrating dead end endeavors; and shackled by too many responsibilities.
So look there first.
Once you see the you, you are searching for, try to remember you only live once. Take a moment and try to hear your soul cry. When you hear it stop and listen. But don’t do anything except be kind, have compassion, and remain nurturing.
THEN find someone dear to you that can help you through your pain, your hurt, your fear, your doubt, your broken heart, your disappointment and all your inner discontent.
Opening up to self-compassion, self-kindness, and nurturance can be a life-changing journey. BUT you have to want it. You have to want change. The joke goes:
“How many therapists does it take to change a light bulb?”
“Just one, but the light bulb has to want to change”
You see, to change, I am sorry if this is hard to hear, you have to WANT change. I don’t mean you have to think you want it. No, you have to crave it, desire it, work for it, and create it.
So, when you are tired of the suffering, self hatred, fear, barrage of negative self talk, and when you are ready to become your own best friend, take a deep breath and commit to yourself. Commit to compassion, to kindness, to nurturance, and to listening to your soul’s cry. And know, I am a resource in your journey.
Be Well Friend!
